Locate My Lone Worker
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) published guidance advises:
"Procedures will need to be put in place to monitor lone workers to see they remain safe.
These may include:
- supervisors periodically visiting and observing people working alone;
- regular contact between the lone worker and supervision using either a telephone or radio;
- automatic warning devices which operate if specific signals are not received periodically from the lone worker, eg
systems for security staff; - other devices designed to raise the alarm in the event of an emergency and which are operated manually or automatically by the absence of activity;
- checks that a lone worker has returned to their base or home on completion of a task."
LocateMyThings solutions for Lone Workers encompass the very best mix of the latest technologies available to ensure the health and safety of lone workers and follows the HSE guidance.

Its integrated GPS tracking and monitoring functionality allows individuals or organisations to not only view exactly where each lone worker is but the lone worker can feed information back to base about their current situation.
There are a number of different types of features available the available depending on the type of tracker used, including:
- Current Location and Location History
- Geofence warnings alerting whether lone workers have strayed outside their control area.
- Alarm button that can be triggered by the lone worker alerting control teams to distress.
- ‘Listen In' capability for central control teams to listen to conversations when an alarm has been raised to assess the situation remotely.
- Mobile phone functionality allowing users to instantly dial a preset number (e.g. the office or control centre)
- Some units are fully integrated into Skype so that the Lone Worker can be called directly from the control panel to their unit and have a conversation with the lone worker

But there are other solutions available...?
If the following scenario sounds familiar, then you must consider whether this is truly protecting the health and safety of your lone workers as this represents many of the existing solutions on the market:
- Dial a number on a mobile phone and let it ring to register an SOS emergency
- Central control centre receives the call, checks the diary of the lone worker and then rings the mobile number back
- If no answer is received then they call back a 2nd time
- If no answer is received after the 2nd call then the police are called.
Of course, at this point, there is no confirmation that the lone worker is where they were supposed to be.
LocateMyThings devices are discreet and require just a single press of the SOS button and a central control centre can listen in and make a decision as to whether to involve the authorities and of course, at this point they know exactly where the lone worker is.

| I'd Recommend It |

"We have been using the 'Locatemything' tracker unit for a while now. It is attached to my 80 year old dad's keys, and my mum charges it up at night, at the same as her phone. I'd recommend it. Get the idea aired wih the carer early in the course of Alzheimers, and don't leave implementing it until its too late for technology to be useful." Dr Sam Oddie, West Yorkshire |
